Exposure monitoring
Using car sensor data to triage TBI severity in road traffic incidents.
Traumatic brain injury is one of the most time-sensitive injuries that road traffic casualties sustain. Rapid, tailored post-crash response can reduce risk of death and long-term consequences. We've shown that on-board vehicle sensors can be used to predict TBI severity, using large-scale analysis of the UK's Road Accident In-Depth Study (RAIDS) database.
Faster, better-targeted post-crash response saves lives, but emergency medicine has limited information at the scene about how serious the brain injury actually is.
Large-scale data-driven analysis of the UK’s RAIDS database links on-board vehicle sensor signatures to subsequent clinical TBI outcomes.
A predictive system that medical emergency response can use to triage casualties at the scene. Led by Dr Claire Baker.
